  • At Haviland Grade School, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. As a small school, we are proud to provide personalized support and a caring team approach to meet the individual needs of each student. We offer a range of programs, including special education and gifted education through our cooperative with SCKSEC (South Central Kansas Special Education Cooperative), and counseling services to support diverse student needs. We encourage outside entitities such as the Iroquois Center to provide services to students in the building to help them be as successful as possible.

     

    Haviland Schools work closely with the Haviland Rec who has opportunities for students to be appart of their after school program until 5:30 p.m. and non-school days Fun Friday activities. 

  • We offer transportation for Haviland students who live more than 2.5 miles from HGS. We do not transport HS students to Haviland for the bus unless administration determines there are extenuating circumstances. 

     

    HS Transportation: The HS bus leaves for Greensburg promptly at 7:35 a.m. with no exceptions. 

     

    JH/HS Sports Transportation: Every day we bus students that participate in sports to Greensburg for practice. The bus leaves at 3:10. We bus students back at the end of practice typically between 5 and 5:30 p.m. We bus to Greensburg and home from away sporting events. We DO NOT provide transportation home for home sporting events. 

  • Our elementary school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:45 p.m., with after-school programs available for families needing extended care. Doors open and breakfast begins at 7:40 a.m. Students are not let in the building before then. 

    We are a 4 day school week. At the beginning of the school year we go Fridays typically through September. After that we go to school the first Friday of the month and get out at 2:45.

  • Registration is straightforward and can be done in person at the grade school office. Required documents include proof of residence, birth certificate, and immunization records.
