Buzzers sounded throughout the Haviland Elementary School on Nov. 12 as the Haviland Jr. High Quiz teams kicked off their season with a home quiz meet. There were six teams that attended the, Macksville, Mullinville, Skyline, South Central and two Haviland teams. Team One for Haviland consisted of all eighth graders, Jimmy Hoyt, Ashlea Allred, Jordan Wyrick and Montana Ralstin. The first Haviland team took third place while the second Haviland team, which included Erica Bertram, Caleb Davis, Ellen Waters, Kristen Wade and Colten Ebert, played well but didn’t place.

The Jr. High quiz sponsor this year is Mrs. Laura Chadd. The team practices on Wednesday nights from 5:00-5:30. There will be seven to ten meets they will be attending this year.

"I have some experienced quizzers and some new quizzers with potential," said Chadd. "They are a good bunch of kids who will work hard; I think we will do extremely well this year."

Members for this year’s quiz team consist of Ashlea Allred, Erica Bertram, Brooke Boman, Austin Darnell, Caleb Davis, Colten Ebert, Jimmy Hoyt, Rayne Jamison, Montana Ralstin, Zack Rose, Dylan Sears, Kyle Stevens, Ellen Waters, Kristen Wade and Jordan Wyrick.

A team of five traveled to Greensburg for a meet on Oct. 19, where they won four rounds while only losing one. With only one loss the team took home a second place medal. This team was made up of the following five members: Allred, Bertram, Davis, Hoyt and Wyrick.
